Funny, it's the same with me! I'm 5'4" too, and my hair is down to my butt. What I down with it is cut it into layers. This picture looks kind of like it.

It's strait layered hair. (I have to straighten my hair because it is really curly). The best thing about this haristyle, is that when you put it into a ponytail or something, it looks totally different!! It's great.

same thing here, except im 5"3, and it kinda gets annoying sometimes.....you can try different styles of ponytails (since i know what kind of hassle it is sometimes to just leave it open)..try a side part, a middle part, a side ponytail, tie you hair in a ponytail and curl some of it...there are so many choices.

you can also get layers, like most of the ppl are saying, cuz u will still keep ur length.itll just look more interesting...since i couldnt do that (thx to my mom), i got really cute long bangs. or side bangs.
