Semi-formal hair ideas?

I have a semi-formal coming up on the 20th, unfortunately I cannot get my hair done at a salon so do you have any good hair styles I can do at home?

I have short layered hair that goes to my shoulders and side bangs, so I cannot do too much but I want it too look good. So any ideas or pictures would be great.

I have a curling iron, hair rollers, straightener and hairspray etc.
