When you krimp it are you using a styling gel? Try using the product called "bees wax" you can usually find it in a supply store. It's a little heavier than styling gel, doesn't flake and holds a little longer.

When you crimp your hair, try applying a flexible hair spray afterwards.

Take thin sections. People will thick hair often make the mistake of taking sections that are too thick...make sure you're using a high heat setting.

I used to straighten my hair and I found that if you separate your hair into sections, it's so much easier to make it straight. Start off by separating the top half from the bottom half and tie it so that it's not falling down into the bottom section. Divide the bottom into right and left sections. Pin the right one away. Start straightening the left section from bottom to top, very slowly and carefully, and take small sections. Move on to the other sections and continue.

I have extremely thick hair (when I braid it, the braid is as thick as my arm) and it only took me about half an hour or so to straighten it using this method.

As for crimping, I'm not sure, but it might work in the same general manner.

You need to get a really good conditioner for your hair. If you have a Latino store in your neighborhood or near by go there and find a conditioner, it is pink colored, I don't remember the name but it works great ! Leave the conditioner in your hair 20 min. with a shower cap on your head. A good at home remedy is lots of mayo and the shower cap for 30 min. The shine will almost blind you and your texture will be sleek and smooth. The straightening procedures used are bad for your hair, they tend to made the texture more unmanageable. Try some of these along with an olive oil hot pack once a week then roll your hair on large rollers and if long enough, on soda cans (cleaned well of course) or put it in a ponytail and let it dry in the sun. Thick hair is a time consuming task but a lot of people with thin hair would gladly trade places. My hair use to be thick but has over the years thinned and I really miss the volume but thats something hair mousse can fix too...Enjoy your hair and take the time to try some of these treatment.
